Racism and Christianity

Galatians 3:28: “There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”

As someone vehemently opposed to racism, I believe that one who actively pursues and acts upon racism can not claim be a Christian. There is no reconciling the Gospel of Christ with any form of racism (i.e. White-supremacy, Neo-nazism, KKKism, Black Panther Partyism, etc.). We see in Numbers 12 Moses being opposed by Aaron and Miriam because he was married to a Cushite woman, that is, an Ethiopian woman. God struck Miriam with leprosy and her hand turned white. If God does not have a problem with and even defends race and race-mixing, neither should we, as Christians, have a problem with such. To do so is to completely contradict the fact that all men are made in God’s image, and that Christ died for all men, Black, White, Asian, Indian, etc.

Fighting words? Maybe. But this is something I think is worth fighting for. Yet over all, these are just some thoughts. Feel free to correct me, contradict me, agree with me, etc.

  1. Actually, one of my non-christian/non-religious friends (sigh, atheist) mentioned that she’s sure racism makes up a big part of Christianity. Or at least, it’s in the bible. Can you expand in this topic more?

She’s also lgbtq sympathetic, so, if you have info or opinions on how to face it, as a Christian, it would be nice…

  2. I would ask her to explain how she comes to that conclusion. As far as I know, there is absolutely no warrant for racism in the Holy Bible.

A Christian ought to love their LGBT friends/family, yet the Bible makes it clear that homosexuality is sinful. So, when you encounter LGBT people, love them like you would anyone else, and live as an example. It is ineffective, in fact, counterproductive, to constantly shove your beliefs down their throats, but one should always be a witness for Christ. Let them know what you believe, but don’t force them. LGBT sins are no worse than any other sexual sins. Treat them like you would treat your friend having sex before marriage.

Also, I would suggest you watch this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HTjxe_sWUGA

    • Sorry, only now seeing this. But I shall take your advice to heart. I mean, I don’t mean to, but I guess my explanations as to why I think as I do tend to come off as biblethumping and wrong is wrong.
